Highfield Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
Our 2 day onsite programme for the IQA qualification meets the requirements for awarding organisations who require internal quality assurers to hold a recognised qualification. It will support staff to provide excellent quality assurance for qualifications within your organisation. It will cover the key skills and knowledge that are required to ensure that the quality assurance meets the standard required for registration and certification for your awarding organisations. This is an excellent qualification to upskill your employees and provide resilience to your assessment teams. Over the 2 day taught programme, staff will complete all the knowledge required for the qualification and the observation requirements. To complete the qualification, they will gather and submit their work product evidence to their trainer to complete the qualification.
To complete this qualification, staff must be providing quality assurance and support to at least two assessors. It is a requirement of the qualification, that they can demonstrate their skills in quality assurance. If staff are not currently working in a quality role but you wish to provide relevant CPD for your assessment team, then the Level 4 Award in Understanding Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice may be more suitable.
We would recommend that your staff hold a level 3 assessor qualification before beginning this IQA qualification. If staff do not have a level 3 assessors qualification, then you can find out more here Highfield Level 3 Assessor Qualifications.
If staff are in a position where they are responsible for other IQAs then you may wish to consider enrolling them on Highfield Level 4 Leading Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice. This will enable your staff member to achieve the full qualification: Highfield Level 4 Leading Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice. Staff must be able to evidence that they lead a team of at least 2 other IQAs and plan, allocate and monitor their work.

Staff will learn about the processes and procedures of IQA, including sample planning, report writing, working with Awarding Organisations and improving quality in assessment.
The Award has 2 mandatory units which must be fully completed to gain the qualification:
- Unit 1 – Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment
- Unit 2 – Internally assure the quality of assessment.
This is a 2 day taught programme for a minimum of 8 learners, taught onsite at your workplace or training venue. Learners will spend 2 days with our trainer (usually 9am – 3pm) and they will be set 1-2 hours homework in the afternoon for independent study. All learners will be issued with the course textbook, worth £25, to support them in their independent study. All units are taught on this programme and completed in the week. Learners would be set an assignment each afternoon, which will be marked the following day. This will complete their portfolio of knowledge evidence.
While your member of staff is on the programme, they will continue to benefit from ongoing support from their class tutor, until the course is completed. Once the work product evidence has been submitted for assessment, their full certificate will be claimed; we usually expect this be within 12 weeks from the start of the course.
This programme has outstanding achievement rates, ensuring that staff achieve this demanding qualification within efficient timescale. The trainers on this programme are experienced lead IQAs who model best practice with engaging and active learning throughout the course. Evaluations from learners show that they enjoy the course and the positive impact this has had on their own quality assurance practice in their workplace. This course is excellent value for money as staff receive not only the qualification, but excellent CPD at their usual place of work saving you additional costs for travel and accommodation.
Staff will have 3 months from enrolment to complete the qualification, although learners are expected to complete in 4 weeks.
The cost is £695 per person for minimum of 8 (if you do not have 8 delegates, please contact us for costings).
Your staff member will be allocated a named assessor who will provide unlimited online support throughout the qualification. Following the taught 2 day programme, further tutorials can be arranged with the assessor, either face to face, online or via telephone, as required.
