Sam is a co-owner and director of Best for Training. Sam and Anne Horn have worked closely together in education and training for many years and decided to use their expertise, skills and knowledge to start Best for Training in 2017.
Sam has many years experience working in the further education sector; leading on apprenticeship provision, vocational and professional qualifications for adults and study programmes for young people. As a former member of the senior leadership team of a college, she was instrumental in improving teaching, learning and assessment across the college. Sam led her team in gaining nationally recognised awards and ‘outstanding’ Ofsted grades and Awarding Organisation reports which recognised her approach to achieving the highest quality teaching and assessment.
Sam has worked as an Ofsted Inspector and was a consultant and lecturer for Anglia Ruskin University. Sam’s sector expertise is wide ranging, and she is passionate about high quality training and assessment. Sam is an Independent EPA Assessor and IQA for a number of large EPA Organisations. Sam is also an External Quality Assurer and resource writer for a major Awarding Organisation.
In 1995, Sam graduated from City University, London, with a BSc (Hons) degree in Systems and Management Science and completed her Masters in Professional Practice (Leadership) at the University of Essex in 2014.

Anne Horn

Anne is co owner and director of Best for Training. Anne and Sam Sutton worked closely together in education and training for many years and decided to use their expertise, skills and knowledge to set up Best for Training in 2017. Best for Training has been a finalist for New Company in the Essex Business Awards.
Anne is an expert in apprenticeships and End Point Assessment and currently works as an IQA for a major End Point Assessment Organisation. Anne is also a External Quality Assurer and resource writer for major Awarding Organisations.
Anne has worked in education for over 20 years and is passionate about high quality teaching and training. Anne led her department to outstanding for over consecutive 10 years. Anne’s prior experiences as an Ofsted Inspector allows her to provide support to training and apprenticeship providers as a consultant offering pre inspection quality audits, support and guidance, including governance.
Anne is dedicated to improving standards in safeguarding. She has written training programmes for Early Years, Schools and Colleges and ensured the training of thousands of staff members has been rigorous, informative and improved the quality of safeguarding for childcare and vulnerable adults. Anne is a lay member of her Safeguarding Partnership.
Anne is a very experienced, qualified teacher and holds higher level qualifications in Early Years, Social Care and Management. Early Years is one of Anne’s passions. Her in depth knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage allowed her to play her part in raising standards and her work as a consultant and lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University allowed her to share her knowledge and understanding with practitioners.
Anne is an award-winning teacher achieving Trainer of the Year in the National Nursery World Awards. She also achieved Mentor of the Year (Eastern Region) European Social Fund Awards and Tutor of the Year South Essex College.

Jane

Jane is a highly skilled teaching professional whose experience includes overseeing course development and delivery, liaising with external quality assurers to ensure the quality of provision is consistently high. Jane assesses, observes, and teaches on assessor, IQA and teacher training qualifications for Best for Training and her wealth of experience makes her a great asset to the team.
Jane is an experienced qualified teacher within further education and holds qualifications and sector experience in Early Years, Health Social Care, Teaching and Education, Special Education Needs and Inclusion.
Jane is passionate about the whole quality cycle within education and training whilst implementing procedures that ensure the whole learner journey is outstanding and supports staff to up-skill and provide the best quality delivery.

Julie
- End Point Assessment (EPA) expert

Julie is an experienced independent End Point Assessor (EPA) for several apprenticeship standards and has a wide range of knowledge and experience to share with her learners.
For over 20 years, Julie has had a variety of roles within the apprenticeship sector as an EPA, trainer, assessor and Internal Quality Assurer originating in the corporate business travel sector. Over the years Julie has supported numerous apprentices across many vocational sectors, within customer service, business administration, team leading and teaching. Julie delivers training and assessing qualifications, including the level 3 Highfield Award in undertaking EPA as well as assessor and teacher training qualifications. Julie has considerable experience and knowledge of EPA apprenticeships and assessing qualifications. Additionally, Julie holds her teaching, assessor and IQA qualifications as well as being certificated within mentoring and IAG (Information Advice and Guidance).

She is a qualified teacher holding qualifications in hairdressing, level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, Assessing, End Point Assessment and Internal Quality Assurance. Lauren has a proven track record of mentoring students toward successful outcomes, tailoring her teaching approach to suit a variety of learning styles and individual needs.
Passionate about continuous professional development, Lauren stays current with industry trends and educational practices to ensure her learners receive relevant, high-quality education.
