A practical, expert-led course designed to help school and college leaders manage misconduct confidently, fairly, and in line with statutory guidance. Drawing on real case experience, this training bridges policy and practice to support robust, defensible decision-making in complex situations.
The course covers a comprehensive range of topics essential for managing misconduct in educational settings. Participants will explore the principles of professional conduct, understand what constitutes misconduct and the relevant thresholds, and become familiar with key statutory guidance, including safeguarding and disciplinary procedures. The training also addresses the management of allegations and low-level concerns, ensuring fair and thorough investigations are conducted. Additionally, it emphasises the importance of making clear decisions and accurately documenting outcomes, and provides guidance on when and how to refer cases to the Teaching Regulation Agency.

There are various dates and times to choose from including morning, afternoon and twilight sessions. They last for 3 hours, via Teams and the session is led by an expect consultant with vast knowledge and experience of the education sector and misconduct hearings.

Jo has worked in education for the past 30+ years.  Jo’s career has included work as an advanced skills teacher in Drama and a period working in headship.  Jo is currently The Chief Executive Officer of Essex and Thames Education, a charity whose work includes teacher-training.  Jo spent two years as an Advisor at the Department for Education and was the Strategic Lead for The National Expert Subject Advisory Groups.  Jo is a founding fellow of The Chartered College of Teaching and currently sits as a teacher misconduct chair and panellist for the Teacher Regulation Agency.
