This online one-day update training event includes key information for experienced  Designated Safeguarding Officers and Leads. It will allow attendees time for reflection and discussion on key topics that affect safeguarding in their organisation. Attendees must have completed initial Level 4 Designated Safeguarding Training previously. If attendees have not completed Designated Safeguarding training before then our initial training Level 4 Designated Safeguarding Training for secondary schools, colleges and training providers would be more appropriate.

Ofsted will want to see evidence of the learning outcomes for any safeguarding course. They will expect these outcomes to reflect the safeguarding training criteria they set out. But it is important to remember that Ofsted does not approve any safeguarding courses from any training provider. For this reason, it is your responsibility to source a training course that meets all of the required inspection outcomes.

Our course has been written to reflect the requirements for Ofsted and current legislation and is facilitated by former Ofsted Inspectors with a strong safeguarding background so you can be assured of the quality and relevance of the training.

Our refresher safeguarding training includes the latest updates and Ofsted guidance, including peer on peer abuse, child exploitation and online abuse. This training is designed to meet the training requirements of experienced Designated Safeguarding Officers and Leads working in education.  The event will give attendees the opportunity to explore the requirements of the role in detail, wider considerations for safeguarding in educational environments and identify best practice. The training is interactive and thought provoking.

All staff should receive training when first undertaking this role, and thereafter on a 2 yearly basis as a minimum. ‘Designated members of staff in schools and colleges should be a senior member of the school or college leadership team and they should undertake safeguarding training every two years and their knowledge and skills should be refreshed at regular intervals, but at least annually’  Keeping Children Safe in Education

This training will give attendees the knowledge and confidence to undertake this demanding and vital role.
