Highfield Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
If you want to find employment as an assessor/trainer or coach with learners on apprentice programmes or vocational qualifications the assessor qualification is a must.
So why not complete this qualification to show employers you are serious about the role and you are part way to completing the full assessor qualification? This training will give you an excellent understanding of assessment. Completing the Award will not only give you a recognised qualification, it will prepare you for success at interview and in the job role.
If you have a teaching qualification, and you are interested in assessment, this qualification is excellent CPD and a stepping stone towards an assessment role. Many awarding organisations require teachers to also hold an assessor qualification and this Award can enhance your career progression and opportunities.
You don’t have to be employed as an assessor to complete this qualification.
To be a fully qualified assessor you will need to complete the full Highfield assessor qualification. By completing this Award, you will already have completed one unit in the full assessor qualification. To complete the full assessor qualification, you will need to be working as an assessor with two candidates, as it is not possible to gain the full assessor qualification unless you can provide evidence of your skills in assessment.

Highfield Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
You will have an online induction with your tutor who will provide you with unlimited support throughout the qualification. All our tutors are experienced assessors and internal quality assurers so you will have expert advice and guidance all the way through. You will also be provided with the learning materials so you have everything you need to be successful.
The Award has 1 unit which must be fully completed to gain the qualification. You do not have to be working with learners to complete this qualification.
Unit 1- Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
This qualification is assessed by the following methods:
- You must complete an assignment which covers assessment criteria. You can submit this in intervals for ongoing support and feedback from your expert tutor
- You will participate in a planned professional discussion with your tutor to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of assessment.
After you have completed your assignment and professional discussion you will have provided evidence to complete this qualification.
You will have 3 months from enrolment to complete the qualification, although many learners complete earlier.
You will be allocated a named assessor who will provide you with unlimited online support throughout the qualification. You will have a face to face online induction with your assessor to plan your first steps and answer any questions you may have. Further tutorials can be arranged with your assessor, either face to face, online or via telephone, as required.
