Very well organised, made to feel welcome and able to ask questions, Julie Train, easy to talk to, professional, informative giving us a realistic insight to EPA. Really liked the interactive part, it felt like we were in a classroom. Two mornings of Zoom, and lots to do afterwards, quick feedback given and support with anything you need or unsure of. :

This was an excellent course with a good insight into the EPA process and requirements. The course was delivered over Zoom for a full day but was paced well with informative content interspersed with activities, discussions and sufficient breaks ensuring there is no Zoom fatigue. Julie’s wealth of knowledge and welcoming attitude made the course delivery professional but at the same time remained friendly enough to be able to ask questions and participate in discussions. The assessment is comprehensive requiring substantial research and reading, which is excellent as the learning continues well beyond the day and helps us think more broadly about the EPA. Sam and Anne provided excellent support and were very accommodating in helping our group find a suitable date for the course given that it had to be moved online due to COVID-19. Thank you.

    :

As part of the nationwide Institute of Coding at Newcastle University’s School of Computing, we are both an End Point Assessment Organisation and a training provider, therefore our Proect PI and Project manager in their wisdom sent the entire team on thIS Highfield Level 3 End Point Assessor training to make sure we understood the processes, expectations, and policies around the EPA process. Given that we took this training during COVID19 our assessor Julie Train, was excellent in rearranging for the event to be online, in a small cohort. As an instructional designer by discipline, I was impressed by how she facilitated, ensuring that we all participated, felt safe to ask questions and learn about each other’s different approaches. I particularly enjoyed the partner work, where we tested our approaches and solicited feedback. The assessment was tough. Especially having to dig through policies. However, I’m really glad that we did this, as I learned a lot more about the rights of the apprentice, and the responsibilities of the employer and EPA assessor. Thank you for helping me ensure I provide a better service to my apprentices, their employers, and my institution.

Anne and sam presented a very good days EPA overview with plenty of help and guidance for the future. As it was not clear how the day would go, our minds were put to rest once anne and sam introduced themselves and explained what was to be covered, what the learning goals was going to be, and how we could use the epa knowledge for ourselves in our own companies. A very enjoyable day with very clear UNDERSTANDING by 2 very knowledgeable instructors, thank you.

    :

I was not sure what to expect on this training day but Anne and Sam but our minds at rest, with a good days training. The only downside I found was using Zoom as our Company doesn’t use so we had to use the web browser and not the app and every time we wait to a break out room the system kicked us out and we had to log back in again. The content was well presented by Anne and Sam and I took away so very good information to help me in a EPA role. Thank you.

    :

I was initially nervous that this course would not be as good via Zoom as face to face, however, I needn’t have worried. The content was well presented at a good pace with great use of the breakout rooms to chat in smaller groups. Anne and Sam were excellent at sharing up to date information from their recent experiences and this course gives great information, but also inspires confidence for individuals looking to move on in their career, or for those wanting to give better service in their existing role. Thanks very much.

    :

The course delivered by Sam and Anne was a good balance between delivery, participation and delegate feedback. The course activity packs were a useful tool for learning and confirmation on our knowledge and skills.

It was aimed at the standard the delegates were assessing and I would recommend the course.

    Thank you both.

    :

A really informative and stimulating training event. The use of Zoom as the delivery platform did not detract from the richness of the training experience, and indeed, on occasions, augmented the training.

The trainers have a deep understanding of the subject matter and can articulate their knowledge with ease and skill.

As a newcomer to all things EPA, I found the event of huge value as well as personally rewarding. I would recommend the event without reservation.

Anne and Sam did a great job delivering this course by Zoom. The course content was interesting and informative and they were engaging and helpful. I learned a good deal and feel much better equipped now to undertake end point assessment. The course included some enjoyable case studies and effective use of breakout rooms (a new one on me as a novice Zoom user). All in all, well worth doing.

At this time of self-isolation and money tight, I initially felt that this money should go towards my housekeeping, but I am happy now because it’s money well spent.

I enjoyed every aspect of the sessions, the trainers(Anne & Sam) were fabulous. good experience- writing materials superb, the support is given outstanding, over course inspiring.

I will recommend to my colleagues.

    Now I am an EPA.

    :

I felt that Sam and Anne were exceptional trainers who both showed an incredible passion towards learning. The course was well run with just the right amount of PowerPoint delivery; it was not death by PowerPoint. The course material was well laid out with sufficient information to allow for me to be stretched and challenged. I found the entire delivery and inspiring and motivated me to continue and look for work as an Independent Assessor.

    :

Thoroughly enjoyed the fact I was able to start pretty much straight away. The content and knowledge that both Sam and Anne had was excellent and this was backed up by examples and putting into context. The activities were well planned and timed, and I appreciated Anne checking that I was ok with what I had to do as currently not in role.

The course has made me feel more confident about the role and ready for my forthcoming interview.

The two day, on-line course was comprehensive, informative and highly interactive.

Anne and Samantha, the course tutors, provided up to date, practical advice and a thorough grounding in the role of the IEPA. I now feel confident and equipped to take on that role.

The activity workbooks challenged and tested your depth of knowledge and required you to carry out research to show your understanding as well as your ability to practically apply your knowledge. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in or embarking on the IEPA role.

I found the Zoom meetings to be so much better than I thought they would be. I was initially worried the content would not be as good as if it were delivered in person, but I found it to be informative and engaging.

I can’t actually think of how it could be improved. I really enjoyed the course.

    :

Before the course, I had less knowledge and understanding of EPA.
After the course, I know where to search for apprentice standard, I know assessment methods, I know assessment plan, gateway, and the job role for EPA. I have learnt the vocabularies to use in evaluating my decision.
I know I can now be an Independent Assessor.

  52. 5 out of 5

    :

The course was very well led by two experienced practitioners with up to date knowledge. The feedback was relevant and immediate.
Challenging scenarios and questions were posed for each candidate. The virtual size of the group was just right. Anymore leaners and it may have become a diluted experience.
This was a first zoom session for this delivery but was expertly handled.
The separation into virtual rooms was a clever device and one I will use myself.

Worth every penny – this course was fantastic, the Zoom sessions were excellent and I learnt so much. I has helped me to think about how I can prepare my apprentices for the EPA and also I might even apply for freelance EPA roles! Thank you Best For Training
