Our distance learning Highfield Level 4 Award In Understanding the External Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice is designed for people who want to externally quality assure vocational qualifications, but who are unable to demonstrate their occupational competence or those who are responsible for quality who wish to enhance their CPD and career prospects .
On completion of this award you will have completed one unit of the full external quality assurer qualification and you will be able to enrol to complete the second unit once you are in the role of the External Quality Assurer.
Once you enrol with us you will meet your named tutor online to discuss the qualification and carry out your induction. Your tutor is there to offer you advice, support and guidance . You have unlimited tutor support from you tutor throughout the qualification. The Award has 1 unit which must be fully completed to gain the qualification and is knowledge based which means you do not have to be working as an External Quality Assurer to gain the qualification.
In its own right, it is an excellent continuous development qualification for an Internal Quality Assurer or manager working with apprenticeships or vocational qualifications as its will deepen your knowledge of external quality assurance practice and procedures.
In order to complete this qualification, learners are required to:
• Be a minimum of 19 years of age
Learners must hold one of the following qualifications prior to enrolling:
• Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
• Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
• Level 4 Award in Conducting Internal Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process V1
• Internally Verify the Assessment Process D34

Unit 1 Understanding the principles and practices of External Quality Assurance
1. Understand the context and principles of external quality assurance
2. Understand how to plan the external quality assurance of assessment
3. Understand how to externally evaluate the quality of assessment and internal quality assurance
4. Understand how to externally maintain and improve the quality of assessment
5. Understand how to manage information relevant to external quality assurance
6. Understand the legal and good practice requirements relating to external quality assurance
You must complete of a short portfolio of evidence that must cover all assessment criteria which includes a series of activities and questions which are submitted for assessment. You will receive feedback on your work and the opportunity to resubmit if further evidence is required.
You have 3 months from enrolment to complete your qualification, although many learners complete earlier.
